Our Tama House is on a long and narrow site but it is jamb packed with 5 x bedrooms, 3 x bathroom, private home office/ studio, large open kitchen + dining + living room with an indoor/outdoor connection to a lush garden. 2 x car parking in the front garden which can be an adaptable space for parking and kids play.

  • Centrally locate the dwelling and wrap it in a garden as seen in our House Woollahra project. The site was surrounded by 14 neighbours and by wrapping the property with landscaping, the owners feel like they are in a secluded oasis.

  • Use high fencing but also good garden design to provide privacy. Highlight windows with adjustable louvred screening to allow for natural light but adjustable privacy at times when required. A double height void space at Queens Park provided with natural light and a tree lined outlook without a sense of overlooking from the neighbouring property. The owners didn't mind connecting with people walking past and they lowered the fence height in the front garden to connect with walkers by. They often have the garden décorated during festivities such as Halloween, easter and Christmas.

  • The team at CMA can take the lead and send you important documents for signing via DocuSign already loaded so you can do it quickly on your phone. We can make all the selections and designs and present to you in as little or much detail as you have the time for.

  • Great, we can provide a special service for you to have additional meetings on top of what is included in the fee proposal. We can also go shopping with you for tiles, stone showrooms and furniture etc on an hourly rate.

  • At CMA Carla is involved in every project. We have a team of registered Architects who will assist Carla and lead the project at points of the project where Carla is not required. Carla is passionate about every project and reviewed the project frequently. We have an inhouse review process that requires the team to have check-in at 30%, 60%, 90% and 100% to ensure quality is of its highest.

  • At CMA we have a detailed forecasting of each project in our practice management. We ensure not only that are staff are not overloaded to ensure we always reduce errors but also to ensure our projects/clients are serviced.

  • SQM's are where budget's blow out. Tightening up ones brief to include the essential spaces for a project and then one of our strategies at CMA is to design rooms and spaces without excess.

  • We can take the lead on the project and book in face to face, online or phone call meetings when the time suits you. You can be as involved as you like. We will be guided by you but trust that we can do it all for you.

  • We have two types of clients. The first client comes to us and says we would like you to design a home that achieves all of our brief/wishlist and then let us know how much it costs. Or the second type of client comes to us and says we have this brief and we strictly only have this amount of money to do it in. In the second type of client we have to design to this budget and with our expertise guide you as to what in the brief can't be achieved. We provide costs/sqm at the concept design so you can understand where the costs are coming from. We have key points along the process where we get a price check from a builder or quantity surveyor. This assists with giving you certainty of costs. We administrate the building contract and manage any variations that arise from the builder. All of our projects at CMA come in within 10% of the contract price at the end of the build. We can also advise our clients on a contingency sum which is withheld from the builder to support with backup for any latent site conditions. We also pull out client supplied items to save on builders margin. At CMA we have trade accounts with lots of suppliers and very happy to pass on this discount directly with you.

  • When choosing an architect to work with, style and aesthetics are very important. It is best to chose an architect's style and aesthetic that appeals to you. We can be influenced by certain looks that appeal to you given this is your home but generally you should chose an architect based on their style and expertise.

  • We have crafted a list of builders for certain types of projects we work on. We work closely with the builder and therefore the trust built up over time is very important to the success of a project.

  • Very happy to adjust the project timeline to suit your life. However, we do find that momentum is important in a project. Development Applications can last up to 5 years so you can certainly wait after you get approval. We do find most clients are too excited to wait.

  • Carla is present at every stage. You will be assigned a project architect who will be registered and highly qualified for your job. Carla has strong systems in place in the practice to be reviewing all documents that go out at 30%,60%, 90% and 100% complete. Every document is reviewed by Carla personally for quality assurance. Carla has huddles with each team member daily regarding items that come up on site or emails etc. Carla attends almost every meeting and is available throughout the process.
