A unique response to the common semi-detached dwelling alterations.  A project which remains true to the original concept.

The brief

A home for a young family of three which increase the existing semi’s connection to a social street a  home office for two people, a minimum of four bedrooms, three bathrooms and multiple living spaces.

The solution(s)

The exterior of the home is carved into a distinctive saw-toothed pattern on the northern side, seeing protruding areas enclose internal spaces and receding exterior spaces filled in with lush gardens.

The feeling

“Having been through a challenging rebuild once before, this time around we wanted an architect that could interpret our vision and deliver a visually stunning and contemporary home.

We pitched our project to two architects. The first delivered what we asked for, but Carla gave us something we didn’t know we wanted.

Carla’s creativity and flair introduced light and texture into our dark Bondi semi resulting in a warm coastal feel, while blending seamlessly with surrounding homes.

Throughout the process, Carla has listened and built on our ideas and has provided valuable advice on layout, innovative storage solutions and how to achieve our dream within our budget. We never imagined we would end up with two private courtyards on a small Bondi block!
